Puccini: Madama Butterfly

Puccini |
Hungarian State Opera |
Composers do not always love that piece of their work most which is most appreciated by history of music later. Undoubtedly, Madama Butterfly was Puccini’s favourite, he created the figure of the fragile Japanese lady with great love and meticulous care. As he remembered: „I saw her in front of me all through composing”.
Puccini’s opera is characterised by beautiful melody, magnetism and richness of harmony. Colours, fragrances, eroticism, pudency, disenchantment - all these are given forth on the orchestra instruments with supreme virtuosity.
